Nail Art: FingerFood's Theme Buffet #12 - Freestyle (Triangles)

There's something about the effect you get when you combine flakie polishes and black that I absolutely love. It gives you such a dramatic - and somewhat dark - look. It just seems to fit my personality more than a whole lot of the manicures I do.

This week's theme for FingerFood's Theme Buffet was "Freestyle." I took this to mean that we were free to do whatever we wanted, so this is what my mind came up with. Simple, but I love it!

I'm in love with flakies. Love them to death. I have a  review of  this polish coming up this week sometime, but I have to rave about how much I love it and how it was my first lemming.

I swatched Nfu-Oh flakie #51 last weekend and decided that I HAD to do some sort of nail art with it right away.  Even though I just took the manicure in this post off yesterday, this was my second time wearing this polish this past week, and I already want to put it on again!

This is actually a fairly simple manicure to do. First  I painted a base coat (undies) using China Glaze Queen B, a dark blueish purple (I hate the term, but yes a blurple). }Over this, I layered two coats of my beloved Nfu-Oh 51 <3 It really brought out the purple hues in the jelly formula

Once dry, I applied strips of scotch tape to create the triangular pattern that you see and painted over with black. My pinky, middle and pointer fingers featured a black triangle with the base at the tip of my nail. My thumb and index finger use the reverse of the pattern, with the point of the triangle at the tip and the black as the background color.

I had actually intended to put on a matte topcoat and see how that looked... But after a day of dishwashing and hardcore house and yard cleaning, the manicure was too much of a mess to try it out ;_; Next time!

Polishes / Items used in this manicure were:
Sorry I was running late yet again this week! I'm posting this one just in the nick of time again, but I should be caught up now and hopefully now have everything back to normal. I would expect next week's Theme Buffet entry sometime around midweek.

In the meantime, check out all of the amazing nail art everyone else came up with this week. You can see everyone's personalities shine when given free rein! My favorites this week are by SassyLittleNails, Kerruticles, Journails, Emma's Space and Saucy Nails (I was really favoring the simplistic approach this week!)

    3. You and me both are behind. ;____; And a lot of times I only have time to look and have a quick read of others' blogs and dont have time to comment. I feel so guilty because of it!

    1. Thanks! I had worn the flakie without a base last week, and while it did look good and I liked it, the color just POPS with this base <3

  6. Be still, my beating heart! I SO love flakies, and especially #51. Why, or Why, did Nfu Oh discontinue it!!! I am relatively new to the nail polish addiction scene and missed out on the time when flakies were new and abundant. Bring them back! I am loving this mani you did.

    1. I know! The Nfu-Oh flakies are so gorgeous and it's such a shame that they discontinued the line :(
I'm pretty new to the polish scene, too, and when I stumbled across them, I just HAD to have at least one. (I got my bottle of #51 through FabulouStreet, btw)
