It's yet another Monday, and I seem to be back on schedule! (knock on wood). That means that it's time to bring you another nail polish from an indie maker.
I know that I've already shown you a few polishes from Philly Loves Lacquer, including Fancy Brigade earlier this month. For today's episode of Indie Spotlight, I'll take a look at another of PhLL's, with another polish that continues the Mummers theme. Esther makes some pretty holos, and Avenuers, a pretty, silvery grey scattered holo polish with subtle rainbow microglitter is a nice addition to the collection.

When I reviewed Fancy Brigade, I regaled you with tales of Mummer's Parades past. I won't bore you with all that again, but I will mention that Avenuers is the name of one of the Mummers Fancy Brigades. In fact, all of the polishes released in Philly Loves Lacquer's Fancy Winter Wenches collection were named for Mummers brigades in either the Fancy or Wenches division.
Avenuers is a creamy, silvery grey nail polish, with a scattered holo finish and a subtle mix of rainbow microglitter peeking through. Unlike some other holos, the holo in this polish is actually pretty subtle and offers a sweet shimmer effect.
This was close to being a single-coat nail polish, particularly if you were to use a thicker coat. Personally, I prefer the color and depth you get with two thinner ones. Application was very easy, though, and went on very smoothly. The formula on all of the Philly Loves Lacquer polishes that I've tried so far have been just right - not too thin and not too thick.
Avenuers dries with a slightly gritty textured finish, most likely due to the microglitter in the formula. Adding a good top coat (these photos all show a single coat of Seche Vite) helps to bring out the shine and those little rainbow glitters. Without the top coat, the polish has an almost semi-gloss finish to it.
Now that I've had experience with wearing some Philly Loves Lacquer polishes for extended periods of time, the one problem I've found is that the polishes tend to peel a bit (not chip) after 1-3 days. This has only happened to me with the holo polishes that I've used, not the crellies/toppers, but I have a feeling that it's more an issue with body chemistry than anything else. As I change my nail polish pretty frequently, I'm still going to continue to buy and wear Philly Loves Lacquer, though!
