It's a new month, though, which also means there's a new set of colors for the Tri Polish Challenge. The colors for April are Pink, Yellow and Blue. I threw together this simple, bold, striped look that would be easy for anyone to try!
I can already see that this month of the challenge is going to be, well, a challenge. Why, do you ask? Because I have a total of 3 yellows in my entire nail polish collection. One (the one I used today, actually) I don't particularly care for. The other two are a creme and a shimmer of pretty much the same hue. It'll definitely be an adventure to see if I can make it through 5 manicures with them this month!
I actually picked my least favorite yellow for this week's attempt because I figured I had enough other colors that I could do something simple and make it work. (Well, that, and the fact that I could use the base color for this week's Budget Friendly Friday post)
After painting the yellow base and allowing it to dry, I stuck the french tip Nail Vinyls (love these things!) about halfway down my nail bed. (as an aside, I guess they're not really french TIPS anymore then, huh? I mostly just wanted that curved line.)
Above the Nail Vinyl, I painted a dark navy blue and on the tips, I painted a hot pink/magenta polish. Remove the Nail Vinyls, and voila! a cute and easy-to-do Tri Polish Challenge manicure!
I think the darkness of the navy and hot pink colors work pretty well to dull down the kinda gaudy yellow shimmer. It's amazing how you can use polishes that you actually like along with one that you don't really care for and come up with something pretty awesome!
Polishes / Items used in this manicure were:
- Yellow: Pure Ice - Excuse Me
- Blue: Butter London - Royal Navy
- Pink: Julep - Raegan
- French Tip Nail Vinyls
Hopefully from now on, I'll be back to schedule. It SHOULD work out that every Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be swatch/review days and every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will be Nail Art days. I may miss a day here and there, but I'll try my best!

Nice choices for colors to use in these stripes. They look very good together.
