Swatches and Reviews: Pure Ice - Excuse Me

I know it seems like a lot of my reviews tend to rave and praise the nail polishes that I'm trying out. But, as I try to provide my open and unbiased opinion when reviewing products, I occasionally come across some things that I genuinely don't care for.

The subject of today's (belated)  Budget Friendly Polish feature is Excuse Me from Pure Ice. This is a bright yellow frosty nail polish that I honestly wish I could have liked more than I did.

I originally intended for this review to go out on Friday, since that's when I intend to put out all of my Budget Friendly Polish posts, but well, you know how life has this way of happening.... In any case, today's polish is Excuse Me from Pure Ice. This is a bright golden yellow nail polish, retails for $1.99 and can be found at your local Walmart.

I have to be honest right from the start: I'm not a very big fan of this polish. It's not a polish that I would probably pick out for myself. No, I usually lean towards creme polishes.

The polish is described as being a shimmer, but I honestly would classify it as more of a frost finish. It's not a finish that you see as often as you once did. When I wore nail polish back in high school in the 90's, a  lot of polishes had this sort of look. I guess, to me, this makes Excuse Me feel a little bit dated-looking.

The color itself isn't BAD, but it is a very happy and bright - if brassy- color. The yellow is really bold lemon yellow and definitely stands out. Not everyone can pull off wearing bright yellows, but if you can, you might enjoy this nail polish.

Sadly, the nail polish application left a bit to be desired. I found that it showed a TON of brushstrokes. Also,  depending upon how thin or thick the coats were applied, it could go on a bit patchy or bubbly.

Manicures/nail art that use this nail polish:

In the end, Excuse Me is a polish that fits the Budget Friendly criteria but I would say that unless you absolutely are in love with the color or like frosts, give a it a pass. It won't break the bank at $1.99 (or thereabouts), but I'm lucky that I didn't have to pay a cent for this one. It was actually gifted to me by my mother. She's not huge into nail polish and tends to stay in the cheaper sections of Walmart's cosmetics and nail polish aisle.  She didn't care for this polish so handed  it off to me.

Disclaimer: I will give my honest opinion on any reviews and swatches that appear on this site, regardless of origin. The polish mentioned in this post was a gift from my mother  <3

    1. For some reason I though I commented on this, but apparently not!

It's not a polish I would have picked out for myself, but I guess getting it as a gift gave me a chance to review something I normally wouldn't choose <3

  2. Thank you for your honest review. It is true that when a person reads reviews that are always bubbling over about how great every polish is, you do tend to wonder! But I have seen enough polish reviews to know that, somewhere out there, is a person who is going to love this polish - the way it goes on her nails, the way it complements her tone, etc.! I'm with you, tho - I don't care for the frost finish and, whew, yellow is such a tricky color to pull off, depending on its range!

  3. I'm sure that there's someone out there who would love this polish. It's not me, but everyone has their own tastes. I can do certain yellows, but I think this is definitely one that would be hard for a lot of people to pull off! I just want to try and put my honest opinion out here, the best that I can!
