Nail Art: Tri Polish Tuesday - Pastel Mosaic / Lattice (Pink, Yellow, Blue)

Look at this! It's two weeks in a row that I'm actually posting my Tri Polish Tuesday nail art actually on a Tuesday! (Well, it's just BARELY Tuesday, here. I really need to get ahead of these posts and try to schedule them for earlier in the day)

This is the second pink, yellow and blue look of the month, and I obviously went with a much softer look than I did last week. The nail art design that I came up with this week is a sort of pastel mosaic/lattice design (complete with bonus fuzz in the paint on my ring finger)

This is one of those examples where the manicure didn't exactly turn out the way you wanted or expected, but you liked the outcome anyways. I was planning on doing a mosaic-like look, like on my ring finger, across all of the nails. However, I changed my mind after doing just one.

Putting down all of that striping tape is so fiddly and time consuming, that when I went to remove the tape, it wasn't quite dried enough and the edges of the polish I'd just laid down were pulled up. *sigh* I tried to fix it as best I could, but was still kinda reluctant to do it again.

Instead of dealing with the messed-up lines from not-quite-dried polish on the other fingers, I used a sponge with the same pink, yellow and blue polishes to create a gradient. Gradients like this tend to go on thinner and dry faster, so it was a lot easier to deal with.

The hardest part of doing this manicure was probably just getting all of that striping tape at juuuuuuust the right angles. Also, when I use tape, I find I either have to take it off IMMEDIATELY or wait for the polish to dry entirely before I peel it away. When doing the mosaic-style nail, it takes too long to apply the polish to pull up the tape right away, so I'm stuck waiting for the polish to dry.

Also, I somehow got a bunch of fuzz stuck to my ring finger before I put on the matte topcoat. Also had a pretty bad break on my thumb nail the other day and have a sort of lopsided nail :/ Grrr!

Polishes / Items used in this manicure were:
  • Yellow: Sinful Colors - Unicorn
  • Blue: Julep - Margaret
  • Pink: Butter London - Teddy Girl
  • White: Julep - Nicolette
  • Matte Topcoat: NYC - Matte Me Crazy
  • Striping Tape: Born Pretty (Use code NJX31 for 10% off)

Be sure to check out the looks from the other ladies this week!  There's a whole bunch of amazing looks this week. People will be submitting entries, still, but as of the time I'm posting this, I'm particularly fond of the art done by Nail Newbie, Sam from FingerFood (when is her art NOT amazing?!), Glitter Me This and NailAllure . Which reminds me that I really have to get around to visiting everyones blogs and commenting >.< So much to do, so little time!
