The theme for this week's FingerFood Theme Buffet was "Dots and Stripes" and of course I had TONS of ideas. The problem wasn't lack of inspiration, this time, but instead a complete lack of time. There are only a few more hours left to submit this week's designs, so I threw something together really quick.
This week, I was plagued by migraines two days, which ruled out doing my nails and working on the computer. Then I spent two days on job interviews, which meant I had to really tame down the nail art. I finally realized it was the end of the week and I still hadn't done my entry for the Theme Buffet!
When I was out at the store yesterday, I picked up a bottle of Sinful Colors - Cinderella. Usually, every Friday, I'll post swatches for a budget-friendly polish, and offer my review of it. Since I'd just bought it, I threw on Cinderella so I could post that review.
This morning, I realized I only had a few hours left to post my Theme Buffet entry, so tried to put together a quick dots and stripes manicure. I just used the polish that was on my nails as a base and decided to create something over that.
I used scotch tape to create the lines and painted a stripe of taupe down the tip of each nail. Amusingly enough, this is another polish that I picked up yesterday in anticipation of another job interview that I have this coming Wednesday (wish me luck!). Originally I had planned to put another color stripe across the very tip of each nail, but forgot to do that before I started dotting.
Over the greige tips, I used a dotting tool to make a line of dots using a dark off-black color. This is Cult Nails - Blackout. It's actually a deep dark charcoal color that's NOT QUITE black. I picked it up in the Cult Nails $3 sale about a week ago and can't wait to try it out more.
Polishes used in this manicure were:
- Blue: Sinful Colors - Cinderella
- Greyish taupe: Sally hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Greige
- Dark Grey/Black: Cult Nails - Blackout
So, I'm not 100% happy with this since it was such a rushed job, but it didn't turn out nearly as bad as it could have! And at least I got it online with about an hour to spare!
Love the simple tips here! Its pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad that you like it, even if it WAS rushed
