Reviews and Swatches: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Blue It

It's been a bit of a busy week, but I'm trying to use this weekend to catch up, write posts and hopefully schedule some to go out soon.

This polish was supposed to be last week's Budget Friendly Friday polish... but, well, that never happened, despite my best intentions. I had even posted about it on Instagram!

So, here you are, a week and one day late, your Budget Friendly Friday polish!  Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Blue It.

Brand: Sally Hansen - Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear
Name: Blue It (250)
Product Description:
Vintage:
Collection: core polish (former)
Limited Edition: no (discontinued?)
Finish: shimmer
Size: 11.8ml /.4 fl oz
Dupes:

Blue It from Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear line is a vibrant blue nail polish that appears anywhere from royal blue to navy depending upon the light and angle from which it's viewed. It's a bold and daring color, and the shimmer finish has beautiful metallic sapphire look. While the color DID stain my cuticles a bit during application, I didn't notice any significant staining to my nail itself. Perhaps a tiny bit that didn't turn out to be permanent.

Blue It was pretty much opaque in one coat, but I painted two just to ensure full coverage and to even out some brushstrokes. On my second coat, I applied the polish with a gentle hand and the brushstrokes were practically invisible once dry. If you were in a rush, you could PROBABLY get away with a single coat.

The formula was okay, too -- not too thick or thin -- and it was easy to apply. However, some people might not be a huge fan of the brush and brush handle.  The stem of the brush is very long (much like Julep's are) which can lead to pulling too much polish onto the brush. The brush handle is also on the smaller side, but I actually tend to prefer this, personally, though I bet I'm in the minority.

One of the greath things, besides the color and the shimmer, was the finish.  Blue It has a really brilliant shine when dry, even without top coat. The biggest problem I found with this polish, though, was in its dry time.  This one took FOREVER to dry. I may have rushed applying my second coat since I wound up with one or two bubbles, even though I'd waited 5 or 10 minutes between coats.

I picked this nail polish up a few months ago, around the time I was starting this blog, for a very Budget-Friendly $2.48. It was in the clearance bin, so that, combined with the fact that I can't seem to find it on the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear website leads me to believe that it's, unfortunately, been discontinued.  I'm sure, though, that you will probably stumble across it here and there, if you're interested

So, thus begins the weekend of catching up. I spent a few hours working on editing photos and now have a ton of swatches all fixed up for the blog and ready to go. All I have to do is write up the content to accompany the pictures! The problem now is deciphering the various notes I have scrawled everywhere for these polishes!

I hope you enjoyed today's polish. Even if you can't find this particular polish, you can find more in the Xtreme Wear line at pretty much any pharmacy or big box store Let me know what you think about it, and if you have any recommendations for me! What should I swatch next? Help me pick!
