Nail Art: FingerFood's Theme Buffet #17 - Something New

So, it looks as though I might actually have this week's contribution to FingerFood's Theme Buffet done a little earlier than usual! No last minute flailing about to try to get things in before the InLinkz expires.

The funny thing is that when I started doing this manicure, I hadn't actually intened it to be for the Theme Buffet...Yet somehow it just happened to fit all of the criteria for this week - Something New! New polish, new stamping plate, new nail accessories/accents, first time using said acccents.... Somehow the pieces all fell in place.

Yesterday, the mail gods felt me worthy to receive the goods they had to bestow upon me. A few nail polishes, a ton of stamping plates , and a bunch of rhinestones and other accessories. Would you believe that I hadn't had any rhinestones, studs, etc to try out in nail art before?!

I spent the afternoon swatching one of my new nail polishes -- Indigo Bananas - With a Spoon in It, this beautiful taupe holo. If you don't already know, I like to turn my swatches into nail art, both to show off how a polish can be used ...and also because part of me cringes to think of wasting  the polishes.

Anyways! I was staring at this beautiful neutral holo on my fingers, appreciating them, when one of my brand new plates somehow jumped into my hand. How could I NOT try one of them out?! Next thing I knew, I was stamping these adorable birds onto my pinky and pointer nails.

But something was missing..... Might as well try adding some pearls! I delved into my newly-arrived rhinestones and placed a few on my middle and ring finger nails. I really like the way they looked against the holo. I probably could have used the next size up, but they didn't look bad like this.

So, in the end, my "something new" was a manicure featuring a whole bunch of new somethings! It's a simple manicure, but it was a fun and casual look to keep on my nails for a couple days.

Polishes / Items used in this manicure:
So, what do you think? Take a look at all of the other nail art done by the other participants this week.  Usually I would write whose were my favorites... but since I'm not posting this on a Saturday, there's still several days worth of manicures that people can post!

    1. Seriously, I'm so in love with this polish. I picked up a few different ones, but I really have to invest in some more!

Good to know that someone else is taking up the procrastination spot this week! <3 The end of the week is so lonely without SOMEONE to do it! Can't wait to see what you come up with <3

  3. That is a gorgeous polish, and those little birds are so adorable on it! I do the same thing with my swatches - it seems a shame to waste it, when you can get two perfectly good posts out of it! :)

    1. Exactly! Two posts and not wasting polish = win <3 Especially when you have a polish as pretty as this one.

  5. (original comment deleted, put incorrect polish name in!) Your base color, With a Spoon in It, is absolutely gorgeous. I usually don't like taupe, but this one is just so darn pretty. Great choices of stampings and studs. I like the pearl studs this size, afraid next up would have been just a tad 'overdone'. You've created a very elegant mani, with the stamping adding some fun! Great photos!

    1. (don't worry, I make silly mistakes like that all the time <3)
I never really was a big taupe person, but lately I've found a few polishes that I like and look good. I think this is probably my favorite neutral-toned polish. The holo makes it just enough different and gives it a bit more depth and character.

I was trying to go for a subtle, and elegant but fun look ... so I guess it worked! I think I agree that the larger pearl studs would have been a bit of overkill.

  6. Oh these are so lovely! I love how you incorporated a touch of silver in each nail, it really looks wonderful and pulls the whole design together.

    1. Thanks! (sorry for the late reply! I'm trying to catch up on comments). I'm glad you like them. I was tempted to leave them alone once I did the stamping, but it just seemed incomplete until I added the pearl studs <3
