This started off as a bit of an experiment for St. Patrick's day nail art for FingerFood's Theme Buffet. I knew I was going to miss getting this done for the holiday, so I wanted to throw something together that didn't scream "St. Paddy's" but still fit the theme.
After setting out all of my green nail polishes for inspiration, I just couldn't decide what to do. I didn't want to spend TOO much time and effort on a manicure because I had an upcoming interview and would be removing it right away. Since I missed the holiday, I didn't want something filled with clovers, either. Instead, I opeted for a green and gold look.
Two of the Cult Nails polishes that I just got this week kept grabbing my eye. When you see how sparkly they are, it's no WONDER they were grabbing my eye. The first was Walk of Shame, a super sparkly gold glitter with various size hexes and brilliant iridescent microglitter. The second polish was Dance All Night, which featured a combination of blue and green hex glitter and gold microglitter.
Now that I had my green and gold theme going on, I had to decide what sort of design to do. I've been wanting to try to do a glitter gradient over bare nails for a while, so I figured I'd try one with the green glitter. I'm sure it would have worked better with a polish that wasn't so chunky, but I still like how it turned out.
I painted a single coat of gold as a base color / undies for the glitter I planned to use. Over that I used two coats of Walk of Shame.
These photos don't even begin to show exactly HOW shiny my accent nails are. I think this might be the bling-iest glitter combination ever. The camera just seems to go crazy when it even thinks of photographing it. Seriously, I think this is the most epic glitter bomb that has ever been on my nails. I just can't stop staring at it every time it catches the light.
Polishes / Items used in this manicure were:
- Gold base/undie: Salon Perfect - Gold Leaf
- Gold glitter: Cult Nails - Walk of Shame
- Blue and Green glitter: Cult Nails - Dance All Night
The only thing that I'm sad about is that I can't keep this on my nails longer. (;_;) I have that job interview tomorrow and, sadly, will be stuck in greige land. I suppose I can live vicariously through the nail art offered by all of these other Theme Buffet participants!
Love all the glitter especially the ones concentrated on the tips :)
