NOTD: FingerFood's Theme Buffet #4 - Sparkle!

We're down to the end of January, which means it's week 4 of FingerFood's theme buffet!  This week's theme was "sparkle!" and all of our nails are now covered in shimmery, shiny, glitterbomb goodness,

Since I have a surprising lack of glitter toppers in my collection, and as I was working on swatching a really shiny polish yesterday, I figured I would just turn it into my entry for this week!

This didn't quite turn out the way that I had intended, and I'm not entirely happy with it, but I didn't really have the time or patience to change it out and try again. You can see some of the blue staining on the cuticles of my pinky and ring finger from me removing what I had done because it didn't turn out right. Sigh.

The original plan was to have the rays coming out like a starburst from the ring finger. I taped off the lines with striping tape and painted. Unfortunately, my ring finger (the center of the starburst) got screwed up. When I reworked the nail, I decided to just mirror what was on my middle and pointer fingers. What I wound up with isn't bad, even if it DOES kinda look like the colors of Scotland's flag were inverted.

This manicure features the following polishes:

Half of my photos weren't focused properly when I went to edit them and I'm too busy to retake them, so there are only a few pictures today. Sorry! (Why is job searching and applying to jobs so time consuming and stressful?)

Next week's theme is Birthdays / Celebrations. I have no clue what I want to do! I should have done a birthday manicure last week for my birthday, but never did.  If you have any ideas, let me know! Also, if you know of any other theme or challenge groups out there that I might be interested in, please leave a comment. I'm really just a nail art newbie, but I'm trying my best.

Check out the nail art by the other amazing ladies doing this theme challenge!

  4. Even though it's not what you expected, I still absolutely love this. The way your lines carry from nail to nail is deceptively hard to do, and you pulled it off nicely!

    1. Thank you <3 Even though it didn't turn out how I had in mind, I'm glad that it wasn't a terrible disaster. I like how the lines look carried across the nails, too, and it's something I hope I can try again some other time

(Also, thank you for your kind words. It means a lot, too, particularly since I really, really DO love your nail art and swatches)
